Hi ya’ll and welcome to this Friday post, It’s Been A While or Limbering Up The Sewing Machine. I hope you like it.
On The Brother
A little bit of background – about a year and a half ago, I decided I wanted to learn to sew. My mom was a great seamstress, making a lot of my clothes when I was growing up, but for some reason, she didn’t pass on her expertise, probably due to lack of interest on my part. I never took any Home Ec classes in school, don’t know how I dodged that bullet, again, probably due to my disinterest. I did take a stab at learning when Big Mommy was little, but at that time, it was hopeless – think working full time with a two year old. It was a fail before it even started.
Fast forward to the present and Pinterest…
I keep seeing cute cute cute (perfect) things that people are running up on their machines and with (then) four grandgirls, I decide, once more, to learn to sew. I buy a decent sewing machine, the Brother I refer to, and start stitching. I’m not showing my failures – and there are many – but eventually, the pattern speak started making sense and I had a few projects that didn’t end up in the trash.
A reversible hat for Baby Emma
A denim top for me.
My newest project –
A not quite finished dress for me. I hope the final photo is better! FYI – This dress was a Craftsy kit, which contained everything but the thread.
So, that’s what I’ve been up to this week. Do you have something to brag about?
