Frustration Overdose, Monday Mashup 6-12-17

Hi all and welcome to Frustration Overdose, Monday Mashup 6-12-17!   Come on in!

Woo-hoo

My order from fabric.com arrived today and is getting a gentle wash and dry in hopes of cutting out tomorrow.  You can see a swatch here.  I’ve moved my sewing machine into another room and need to get a good light to sew by.  The room is dark and with just one window, it doesn’t get much sunlight after noon or so. Any suggestions?

Washed, dried and cut out.  I know what I’m doing tomorrow!

That was Friday.

This is Monday

Snafu

I was so excited Friday to get started on my new dress and things were going along swimmingly with it, only to crash and burn yesterday.  then crashed and burned Sunday.  It all started with modifying the pattern to be sleeveless.  Being a novice seamstress, I need detailed instructions and illustrations of techniques to be successful. I’m making another Christine Jonson Wrap Dress, by the way.  Here is what the pattern says regarding the sleeveless mod: “For sleeveless wrap dress, serge the armholes and neckline.  Turn garment right side out and press armholes and neckline.  Continue with instructions as shown, eliminating steps involving sleeves.”  The trouble started with the turning right side out to press.  No can do.  Apparently, the opening I left in order to be able to turn wasn’t right.  I didn’t catch on until I’d spent HOURS trying to figure out why I could turn the blasted thing right side out. Yeah, that’s three hours of my life that I’ll never get back.  I finally threw  laid it down and went to yoga. In the end, I finally  backtracked, took it completely apart and started over, with better results.

Ooooooh, Pretty!

I ordered this from Eat. Sleep. Knit. last week and it came today.  Gotta love Fedex – the next best thing to immediate gratification!

It’s going to be really, really hard to finish my current WIPs before I cast on and start something new with this lovely.  Patience. Self Control. These are my watch words….I should go ahead and put this away before I cave and start yet another sock project. I am weak.

Lead us not into temptation.  Just tell us where it is; we’ll find it. Sam Levenson
